A fire caused more than $160,000 damage to a West Valley City apartment complex Friday located at 3874 W. Rockwood Way.

Deputy Fire Chief John Williams said the fire destroyed the apartment where it originated and caused fire, heat and smoke damage to a second apartment. A third apartment was damaged by water used in the firefighting effort.Williams said the fire was reported about 11 a.m. All three West Valley stations responded and were assisted by two fire trucks from Salt Lake County and a paramedic unit.
