Zion National Park motor vehicle worker Roy Williams thinks the park's employees should be allowed to wear wide-brimmed cowboy hats during southern Utah's hot summer months.

And the National Park Service thought so much of his idea it paid him a $500 reward for the suggestion, Harold Grafe, Zion superintendent, said Thursday.Williams made the suggestion because the service's baseball caps "don't provide enough protection against the sun's harmful rays," said Grafe. "Williams' straw hat would provide employees with more facial protection and help prevent sun-related ailments."
