Two Norwegians trawling for shrimps in the North Sea caught a World War II German Messerschmitt ME-109 fighter plane, the national NTB news agency reported Saturday.

The agency, quoting a report in the daily Stavanger Aftenblad, said the fishermen were about 340 miles south of Oslo on Thursday when their trawl got stuck."In the trawl was a ME-109 fighter which must have rested on the seabed for more than 40 years. The wings are hardly damaged, with its Iron Cross marks still clearly visible. The front of the cabin is smashed but the pilot's seat and machinegun are intact," the report said.

ME-109s were widely used by the German Luftwaffe during World War II.
