The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences has teamed up with Soviet television to develop and produce a televised tribute to the musical history of both countries.
The joint production, tentatively titled "What a Wonderful World," will be presented from Moscow and New York and-or Hollywood. NARAS President Michael Greene said it will showcase the musical contribution of both nations and explore their common genres, including jazz, folk, rock, swing, classical, spiritual and blues.Vladimir Popov, vice chairman of Gostelradio, the official Soviet radio and television committee, said the project "will give an idea about the best examples of culture of both countries for millions of people who cannot always attend concerts during tours of Soviet and American performers."
