The Public Utilities Commission has dismissed an investigation into the pay phone practices of US West Communications but may require all telephone companies to give 30 days notice when they plan to remove public phones.

The PUC launched an investigation, prompted by the demise of a private pay phone company."There is no competent and substantial evidence to substantiate the specific allegations made by Intermountain Communications," the PUC said.

US West has agreed to give 30 days notice before removing any pay phone.
