Low water in Lake Powell has forced the closure of the State Line boat ramp, near Wahweap Marina.

The ramp is on the Utah-Arizona border, but because of the drought, it's unusable. The concrete part of the ramp no longer reaches the water, said Larry May, acting superintendent of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, which includes Lake Powell."This is an annual occurrence during low-water years and we hope the closure will not greatly inconvenience our visitors," he said. Launching facilities are still available at the main ramp for Wahweap.

The State Line ramp will reopen in the spring, when the lake's water level rises high enough. This is expected to be before Memorial Day, the start of the main visitor season at Glen Canyon.
