Services are scheduled Tuesday for Bernard D. Solomon, director of the James L. White Jewish Community Center and the United Jewish Council of Salt Lake.
Solomon died Saturday of cancer at the age of 51.He first came to Utah nearly 17 years ago to become program director at the Jewish Community Center.
Solomon, known to friends as "Uncle Bernie," was "the soul behind the JCC and ran an institution that reached out to young people of all races, religions and creeds," said Frederick L. Wenger, rabbi of the Kol Ami Synagogue.
