City Councilman Douglas E. Nielsen will rescind his resignation from the council and will serve out the remaining year of his term.
Nielsen turned in a resignation to the council last week because he had accepted a job in Boise in hospital administration, according to his wife, Carolyn. But Tuesday she said her husband had received an offer from his current employer that prompted him to turn down the Idaho job and stay in Utah. Nielsen is western region director for the Osmond Foundation, which sponsors charitable and fund-raising events to aid medically needy children.
Nielsen's resignation and the procedure to replace him were scheduled for discussion at Tuesday night's Centerville City Council meeting. His resignation was to be effective Jan. 15 and the council planned to advertise for a replacement, interview candidates, and announce a new council member by its Jan. 17 meeting.
Nielsen was elected to the council in November 1985 and took office in January 1986.
