Seven Salt Lake area executives have earned professional accreditation as certified shopping center managers or certified marketing directors from the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Accredited as certified marketing directors were Jean A. Sommers, Melvin Simon Management, Salt Lake City, and Philip Marshall Vise, Price Development Co., Salt Lake City.Named certified shopping center managers were Brian D. Sorlie, The Hahn Co.; Gary D. Chaston, Zions Securities Corp.; Stath J. Karras, Wallace Associates Management; William C. Roderick, Roderick Enterprises; and Steven L. Watts, Lehndorff Management Ltd., all of Salt Lake City.
To earn the two designations, a person must pass a written examination prepared by an ICSC committee consisting of people previously certified. To qualify for either examination, a person must have four years experience in shopping center management or shopping center marketing.
ICSC is the trade association of the shopping center industry and assists its 27,000 members worldwide to develop their business through education, research, publication and legislative action.
