Snow-packed roads contributed to several accidents Monday, including one that killed two people in Spanish Fork Canyon.
Killed:Tuiasi Vaai, 22, Arlington, Texas.
Lepanoni Matafahi, 18, Irving, Texas.
Vaai and Matafahi were traveling to Provo to start jobs with a construction company when their car rounded a curve on U.S. 6 two miles west of Soldier Summit and slid out of control into a truck driven by Reece Wilberg, 43, Spanish Fork, according to Utah Highway Patrol troopers.
The three men were taken to Castleview Hospital, Price, where Vaai and Matafahi were pronounced dead. Wilberg remains in stable condition in the intensive-care unit, suffering from extreme trauma to the chest.
Police were busy Monday and Tuesday with numerous fender benders and cars sliding off roads. No one else was seriously injured.
