Even police officers and their vehicles are not immune to the problems of winter. A Provo police car slid off the road and into a curb Monday, and other officers joined in to help rescue the vehicle. The storm delayed scores of early morning commuters in getting to work. The Provo-Orem area received 8 to 12 inches of snow in about four to five hours, and the rest of Utah County received 4 to 7 inches. Other central and southern Utah areas also were blanketed by the storm. Elk Meadows ski resort, near Beaver, received 16 inches of new snow Monday. Brian Head, the last ski resort to open this year, received 6 inches, allowing a few chair lifts to open Tuesday. Sundance ski resort received 4 to 5 inches.
