S.L. COUNTY WOMAN CRITICAL AFTER SHE IS STRUCK BY CAR

A Salt Lake County woman suffered critical injuries Tuesday night when she was hit by a car while attempting to cross the street.

Ann M. Howard, 18, was listed in critical condition with multiple injuries Wednesday in the intensive care unit at LDS Hospital, a spokeswoman said.Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Carl Evans said the woman and her brother, Troy Howard, 16, were crossing the street at 1050 E. Fort Union Blvd. about 5:45 p.m. on their way to a restaurant. The woman was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Tracey M. Rietveld, 20, of Salt Lake County. Her brother was not injured.
