Swiss workers for the International Committee of the Red Cross pick up luggage at a port north of Beirut before ferrying to Cyprus after death threats prompted the Red Cross to suspend relief efforts in Lebanon. Eleven members of the Swiss team arrived in Zurich, Switzerland, Wednesday. Six other Swiss nationals, including the delegation leader, were scheduled to fly home Thursday. The evacuation was the first time in its 124-year history that the Red Cross has initiated suspension of relief efforts in a country. The death threats are believed linked to the upcoming murder trial of a Shiite Moslem hijacker in Switzerland. The all-Swiss team said it would resume operations in Lebanon once the threats are "unequivocally" withdrawn.
