Five families will benefit from the holiday philanthropy of Brighton High School students, who raised money to help buy them Christmas.

Helping Santa has become an annual project at the school, with the great majority of the 2,100 students becoming involved with donations of food or money, said Matt Nilsen, student body president.

The school's officers obtained two names from the Deseret News Santa's Helping Hand program, two from Catholic Community Services, and added a fifth when a family called the school asking for Christmas assistance.

More than a dozen children whose Christmas would be bleak without help will benefit from the Santa spirit at Brighton.
