More than half of the registered voters in two Morgan County precincts went to the polls Tuesday in a court-ordered special election for two seats on the Morgan School District boards, officials say.
"We had a 56 percent turnout of those who were eligible to vote," County Clerk Janis Widdison, said Wednesday. In Precinct 1, Terry Clawson edged out Kathy Collins, 139-132, Widdison said. Clawson will take office next month in the four-year seat vacated by board President Earl McCain.
In Precinct 2, where only two votes last month separated the candidates, Chet Adams unseated incumbent LaJean Francis, 186-146.
Second District Judge Rodney Page this month ordered the special election after unauthorized voting was discovered in the Nov. 8 general election.
