FAMILIES SEND YULE GREETINGS

The families of four Americans held hostage in Lebanon sent Christmas greetings to the captives Friday and appealed to their pro-Iranian abductors to "end this stalemate." The Christmas messages, one from the family of Terry Anderson, the longest-held U.S. hostage, and another from the wives of Jesse Turner, Robert Polhill and Alann Steen, were published in the independent An Nahar newspaper. "Please give Terry our message of love and concern during this Christmas season. Tell him that thousands pray every day for the hostages, their captors, and the people of Lebanon," said the message signed by Peggy Say, Anderson's sister, and his family. Anderson, 41, chief Middle East correspondent for the Associated Press, was kidnapped March 16, 1985. The shadowy Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for his abduction.
