A driver led Davis County sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase from Kaysville to Ogden and back again on slick roads early Friday before losing control of his car and rolling it, the Davis County sheriff's office reported.

According to dispatchers, two deputy-paramedics spotted a vehicle they thought was going too fast for the slick road conditions about 3 a.m. Friday on U.S. 89 near Mutton Hollow Road in Kaysville. They attempted to pull it over but the driver fled north on the Mountain Road, leading them into Ogden. At Harrison Boulevard, the deputies reported, the vehicle made a U-turn with its lights out and headed south on U.S. 89 again, hitting speeds as high as 85 mph on the snow-packed highway.

Near the Fruit Heights crossroads, the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle, deputies said, and fled on foot. The deputies tracked him through the snowy open fields and eventually apprehended him.

Dennis Butcher, 22, Fruit Heights, was treated at Humana Hospital Davis North for minor injuries suffered in the rollover and discharged, deputies said.
