Three Provo residents have been charged in the theft of a Ronald McDonald mascot from a McDonald's drive-in near Brigham Young University.

Emmett J. Sheahan, 21, and Michael Kim, 20, both BYU students, were charged with second-degree felony theft after police recovered the mascot.The pair, who are accused of stealing the statue Dec. 8, are also accused of passing it on to Brian Ransom, 23, who is charged with second-degree felony theft by receiving and misdemeanor obstruction of justice.

The three suspects were arrested following a tip from a police informant. Officers said the mascot, which had been bolted into cement at the drive-in, was broken off above the ankles.
