Two new cancer research projects have been funded at the Utah Regional Cancer Center, based at the University of Utah School of Medicine.

The first is a five-year $1.4 million Multi-disciplinary Basic Cancer Research Training Grant, awarded by NCI to train faculty members for careers in academic medicine, with emphasis on basic research. Faculty members with well-equipped laboratories and well-established research programs conduct the training.The second grant, a two-year $80,000 Institutional Research Grant from the American Cancer Society, is open to promising young investigators at the university. Eleven seed grants will be awarded by a committee chaired by Raymond A. Daynes, professor of pathology and chief of the Division of Experimental Pathology. He's principal investigator on the grant.
