Israeli troops fatally shot a Palestinian teenager and wounded at least 15 others Saturday in clashes in the occupied territories that prompted curfews in three West Bank towns.
The army also barred reporters from Nablus, the West Bank's largest city, in response to the unrest. The 16-year-old Palestinian was killed in the village of Beit Furid, about four miles east of Nablus, when troops opened fire on demonstrators who erected stone barricades and hurled rocks and bottles at soldiers, the army said.
The boy, whose name was not immediately released, died of bullet wounds to the neck and chest at Ittihad Hospital in Nablus, Arab hospital officials said.
His death raised to at least 318 the number of Arabs killed since the start of the nearly yearlong Palestinian uprising against Israel's military rule of the occupied territories. Eleven Israelis also have died.
