BYU's David Harkness came on strong Saturday in consolation play at the National Clay Court Championships. Harkness won his quarterfinal match, knocking off Derek Brooks of Mississippi 6-4, 6-1. He then eliminated Mississippi State's Mihnea Nastase in the semifinals, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2.

The two victories advanced Harkness to the consolation finals. In keeping with a BYU policy of no Sunday competition, Harkness defaulted that match, which was scheduled for this morning.
