A federal judge reserved decision Monday on a request by lawyers for deposed Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos for further medical tests to support his claim he is too ill to travel from Hawaii to stand trial with his wife, Imelda, on racketeering charges in New York.
U.S. District Judge John Keenan said he would take 48 hours to read the latest papers submitted, a motion by Marcos to travel to the Philippines, and decide whether to have a hearing on the question of another medical evaluation.Marcos, 71, and his 59-year-old wife are charged with plundering the Philippine treasury of $103 million.
