A 32-year-old West Valley woman who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor narcotics charge in return for having felony weapons and drug charges dismissed was sentenced Tuesday to six months in jail and fined $1,000.
Deborah Drane, along with two Utah State Prison inmates on parole, was arrested in May on U.S. 89 near a South Weber convenience store.She was charged with two counts of possession of heroin and cocaine, both third-degree felonies, and misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Kim N. Rafel, 28, and Frank A. Brown, 28, both prison parolees, were charged with possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a second-degree felony; possession of cocaine, a third-degree felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
The three were arrested shortly after midnight May 13 by Davis County deputies investigating a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the road.
In November, Judge Rodney S. Page sentenced both Rafel and Brown, who were returned to the prison on parole violation charges, to six months in jail to be served in the state prison.
