Actor Gene Kelly, the dancing star of "Anchors Aweigh," "Singin' in the Rain," and "An American in Paris," will be honored with the 25th annual Screen Actors Guild Award, the union says.
Kelly, 76, will receive the award Sunday at the guild's annual membership meeting in Universal City "for fostering the finest ideals of the acting profession," the organization announced Wednesday. The award is the only one presented by the guild.Kelly's 40 films have included the classic musicals "Anchors Aweigh," for which he received an Academy Award nomination for best actor; "Singin' in the Rain"; "An American in Paris"; "Brigadoon," and "That's Entertainment."
