Salt Lake City Parks and Recreation officials are offering a $500 reward for information about recent incidents of vandalism and theft at Glendale Golf Course.

Officials said someone broke out windows at the Glendale clubhouse Sunday night and drove five golf carts off the course. Two other carts were damaged and were apparently used to knock down the fence so the others could be driven off, said Lee Terry of Salt Lake City Parks and Recreation.Terry said a police officer discovered juveniles riding golf carts down the middle of a street several blocks away from the golf course Sunday night. The juveniles abandoned the carts, however, and were able to escape in the fog.

Damage was estimated at $1,400. Terry said similar problems have occurred at other Salt Lake golf courses during the past few months.

"It's been a really tough year with vandalism and the golf carts," he said.

Terry said anyone with information should call Salt Lake City Parks and Recreation at 972-7800.
