At a press briefing earlier this week, Kimberly Warner, a co-founder of Utah Valley Citizens for Clean Air, said Utah County was better off when Geneva Steel was idled and her group will "support doing whatever it takes to get clean air."While Warner did not call for the closure of Geneva Steel, she said steelworkers laid off by the idling of the mill in 1986 found other jobs and that the reopened plant has hired its new workers away from non-polluting jobs. Those newly hired workers have jobs "they can go back to" should Geneva shut down again, Warner said.
