Associate degrees will be awarded to 1,563 Ricks College students during commencement exercises April 21. The ceremony will introduce a yearlong centennial celebration at the LDS school.

The 1988 graduating class is the second largest in history, with 156 more diplomas being awarded than last year. In 1984, 1,621 degrees were granted.Bishop Henry B. Eyring, former Ricks president and current member of the Presiding Bishopric of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be the commencement speaker in the Hart Auditorium.

Other honored guests will be J. Elliot Cameron, LDS commissioner of education, and Rep. Richard Stallings, a member of the Ricks faculty now on leave to serve in Congress.

Bishop Eyring and Ricks President Joe J. Christensen will lead an academic march of more than 250 faculty and administration members preceding the commencement exercises. A banquet, graduation ball and pinning of new nurses are included in commencement activities.
