A Price man charged with five first-degree felony sodomy and aggravated sexual abuse charges has pleaded guilty in 2nd District Court to one felony and a misdemeanor lewdness charge in a plea negotiation.

Lonnie J. Thacker, 45, pleaded guilty to one charge of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony that carries a 5-year-to-life prison term, and a charge of lewdness with a child, a class A misdemeanor that carries a jail term of up to a year.The sexual abuse charge also carries a minimum mandatory prison term of 3, 6, or 9 years and, as part of the plea negotiation, the Davis County Attorney's office will recommend the 3-year minimum, prosecutor Carvel Harward told Judge Douglas L Cornaby.

Thacker was initially charged with three counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, all carrying the 5-year-to-life term and a minimum mandatory sentence of 3, 6, or 9 years, and two counts of sodomy upon a child, also first-degree felonies but with 5, 10, or 15-year minimum mandatory terms.

The incidents, according an affidavit signed in court by Thacker on entering his guilty plea, involved several boys under 14 from two families and occurred between October 1985 and October 1986 in Layton.

The plea negotiation also stipulates Thacker will pay for any counseling his victims may need.

Sentencing for Thacker is set for April 26.
