SHARE JOGGER, DRIVER ARE STRUCK BY CARS AND KILLED IN 2 ACCIDENTS

A Roosevelt man died Monday of injuries suffered in an auto-pedestrian accident in Heber City, and a Nevada truck driver was killed Sunday night when struck while setting out flares near Wanship, Summit County, after another accident.

KILLED:Wilford J. Ashton, 71, Roosevelt.

Marion Thomas Alsup, 54, Silver Springs, Nev.

Ashton died about 1:42 p.m. Monday at Wasatch County Hospital of head and other injuries suffered when he was hit about 11:30 a.m. by a car while jogging through a crosswalk at 100 N. Main St.

Heber City Police Chief Jimmy Matthews said witnesses told investigating Officer George Huggard that Ashton, who had a home in the Heber City area, was crossing from east to west in the crosswalk.

Alsup was setting up warning flares on I-80 Sunday after his rig had overturned about 5 miles west of Wanship.
