A Price man who admitted sexually abusing a number of young Layton boys was sentenced in 2nd District Court to five years to life in prison and given a minimum mandatory prison term of three years.

Lonnie J. Thacker, 45, pleaded guilty to one charge of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony, and one charge of lewdness, a Class A misdemeanor that carries a jail term of up to a year. Judge Douglas L Cornaby ordered the two sentences to run concurrently.Thacker was originally charged with three counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, all first-degree felonies that carry the 3-, 6-, or 9-year minimum mandatory terms, and two counts of sodomy upon a child, also first-degree felonies that carry minimum mandatory sentences of 5, 10 or 15 years.

In a plea negotiation with the Davis County attorney's office, Thacker agreed to plead guilty to a single aggravated sexual abuse charge and a reduced lewdness charge in return for the county attorney's office recommendation that he serve only the 3-year minimum mandatory term.
