"Mommy, there are nails in my heart," screamed Jason Overman as he clutched his chest in pain. The 5-year-old son of Jon and Jane Fowlke Overman, Orem, is suffering from a rare nerve cancer called neuroblastoma.

During December and January, the robust, cherubic-faced boy began complaining of pain. He lost weight and his energy. After exhausting all possible tests with his local physician, Jason was taken to Primary Children's Medical Center, where he's undergoing chemotherapy. But medical specialists say a bone marrow transplant is the only hope Jason has. Julie, Jason's 16-year-old sister, is a compatible donor and has bravely volunteered to save Jason.

However, the surgery could cost as much as $200,000, and debate continues about whether it will be covered by the family's insurance. But the money must be in the bank before the operation occurs this summer.

Friends of the family have established a trust fund to ensure the money is available when needed. People who wish to contribute can send donations to:

Jason Overman Cancer Fund, Alpine Credit Union, Account No. 19824-4 A, P.O. Box 217, Orem, UT 84057.
