Claudia Jarrett, chairwoman of the Snow College business education department for four years, will head two administrative programs at the school.

She has been appointed director of vocational education and chairwoman of the Division of Business and Technology. That means she'll supervise varied departments, ranging from welding and computer information systems to accounting and building construction. She will also oversee the expenditure of $2.7 million in state funds to bring the Career Center, headquarters for a dozen programs, to completion.

"Claudia is hard working, disciplined and very savvy. She can do it," said one colleague.

Jarrett graduated from Juab County High School in Nephi. She attended Southern Utah State College in Cedar City, received a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Utah and a master's in business education from Utah State University.

Jarrett, who began teaching commercial subjects 10 years ago at Snow, says she recalls experiences of teaching shorthand and typing students at North Sanpete High School.

She and her husband, Melvin, a Sanpete County employee, live in Mt. Pleasant. They have two daughters, who attend North Sanpete Middle School, and a 1-year-old son.
