The principal of Canyon Crest Elementary School and 13 teachers, cooks and custodians were honored at Provo School District's annual retirement dinner Thursday night.
Vermont Harward is retiring this year after 20 years as a principal in Provo schools."We couldn't ask for a better principal. We'll all miss him," said Geri Akagi, Harward's secretary.
Several retiring teachers have been with the district for more than 30 years. Monroe Gallier, teacher-principal at the district's youth center, has been employed by Provo schools since 1954. Provo High social studies teacher Kent Lott has worked at the district since 1958. Clarence Hepworth, a science teacher at Timpview High School, has worked for the district since 1959.
