SHARE TRANSIENT SENTENCED IN STABBING

A transient who pleaded guilty to the stabbing and beating death of a Kearns woman was sentenced Friday in 3rd District Court to one-to-15-years in prison.

Patrick O'Halloran, 58, admitted to killing Alberta Manuel Evans, 62, 4765 W. 4835 South.As a result of a plea bargain with the Salt Lake County attorney's office, the second-degree murder charge was reduced to manslaughter. O'Halloran was sentenced by 3rd District Judge Frank G. Noel.

Evans was found in the shower of her home on Sept. 15. She had been stabbed in the neck and beaten.

A neighbor reported seeing O'Halloran, who was living with the victim, loading items in her car and driving away Sept. 14. He was arrested a month later in Portland, Ore.
