The Honduran ambassador to Panama was arrested at Miami International Airport with 25 pounds of cocaine in his suitcase, the Customs Service said Monday. Honduras fired the ambassador and revoked his diplomatic immunity after the arrest. Customs Service spokesman Mike Sheehan said Rigoberto Regalado was arrested at about 3 p.m. Sunday after he arrived on a flight from Honduras and inspectors found 25 pounds of cocaine in his suitcase. Regalado was being held in the Metropolitan Correction Center in Miami and was charged with possession of cocaine, Sheehan said. Sheehan refused to say why Regalado's luggage was searched.
