Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon was expected to practice when the team's mini-camp began Wednesday, even though he failed a physical examination Tuesday, team officials said.
McMahon has a dislocated left shoulder, which he suffered in the Bears' playoff loss to the Washington Redskins. Usually, players who fail physical exams are not allowed to practice.
The Bears said McMahon told his surgeon, Dr. Frank Jobe, of the injury last week, and informed the Bears about it Tuesday. The injury is not to McMahon's throwing shoulder.
