A downtown book store proprietor has pleaded guilty to charges she sold pornographic magazines.

Charges against an employee were dismissed.

Carma Slusher Christensen, Murray, pleaded guilty to 16 counts of distributing pornographic materials, a Class A misdemeanor. A $2,000 fine on each count will be stayed if she completes a successful one-year probation, according to a sentence pronounced Wednesday by 3rd Circuit Judge Paul Grant.

That probation requires Christensen to disenfranchise her corporation, Books Etc., which operated at 109 E. Third South before going out of business several months ago. She must also refrain from selling books or videotapes and is prohibited from opening any other stores, the judge ordered.
