Shirley Jones, honored along with fellow actress Connie Stevens for her charitable work with children, says the award means more to her than her Oscar.

Childhelp USA, an organization devoted to the research, treatment and prevention of child abuse, awarded Jones and Stevens their 24th annual "Woman of the World" award Thursday in Los Angeles, said spokeswoman Evie Lazzarino.Jones, who won the best supporting actress Oscar in 1960 for her role in "Elmer Gantry," is national chairman of the National Leukemia Society.

"Of all the tributes I have received I'm most grateful and feel strongest about this one, including the Academy Award," Lazzarino quoted Jones as saying.

Stevens, whose work ranges from movies to television to Las Vegas shows, was honored for her work with "Windfeather," a group devoted to helping native Americans.
