A former Oregon police officer has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to charges that he shot up a television set inside a motel room before shooting at a truck driver who was walking outside his room.

Sid W. Cameron, 36, of Salem, Ore., pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of attempted murder and criminal mischief. Second District Judge John Wahlquist set a June 10 trial date.

Cameron was arrested April 19 at the Flying J Travel Plaza. He allegedly told Weber County deputy sheriffs that he had been inhaling fumes from a solvent-soaked rag.
