The trace element boron, previously thought to have no nutritional value, may play a key role in fighting osteoporosis, the bone-thinning disease.

The Reebok Aerobic Information Bureau says women given boron capsules by researchers for the U.S. Department of Agriculture experienced a decrease in calcium loss of nearly 50 percent. Calcium and exercise are considered the best way to keep bones healthy.Boron can be found in apples, pears, grapes, nuts and leafy vegetables.
