Salt Lake City has developed an apprenticeship training program that is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor.
The city will be training general maintenance workers, carpenters, cement masons, machinists, plumbers, welders and painters."Through a formal apprenticeship program, the city will have a better-trained, more productive work force for the future," said Rulon Cottrell, state bureau director.
Victor Blanton, of the city's human resources department, will serve as coordinator of the apprenticeship program.
