A Cache County girl died in an accident while on her way to Skyview High School Monday morning in Smithfield, and three other people were in critical to serious condition following other traffic accidents.
Angie Roskelley, 17, Smithfield, died of injuries suffered when her four-wheel-drive vehicle was hit by a car driven by Gary Lynn Eskelson, 23, Hyde Park, also Cache County.Roskelley was ejected from her vehicle as it overturned. Tammy Mead, 17, Smithfield, a passenger who also was thrown from the vehicle, was treated for minor injuries and released from Logan Regional Hospital.
The accident occurred at 520 S. 250 East when the southbound Roskelley vehicle collided with the car driven by Eskelson, who was coming out a circular driveway at the high school. Eskelson was cited for failure to yield right-of-way, according to a Utah Highway Patrol press release. The accident was investigated by Trooper Kyle Bushnell.
Barry Smith, 46, American Fork, remained in critical condition Tuesday at University Hospital with head and leg injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in Price Canyon during the weekend. Two other people died in the head-on crash.
Geraldo Barrandey, 18, Smithfield, was in critical condition, and Salvador Muniz, 26, a transient, was in serious but stable condition Tuesday at University Hospital after a car rolled and burned early Sunday at 4100 W. 12th South in West Weber.
That accident, which was investigated by the Weber County sheriff's department, killed two men from Logan and Hyde Park.
