Renovation of Yellowstone National Park's Old Faithful Inn and Lake Yellowstone Hotel has been completed, TW Recreational Services announced Monday.
Steven W. Tedder, executive vice president and general manager of the company, said in a news release the projects are returning the structure to the period elegance of their earlier days.
The company said one of two projects at Old Faithful Inn restored the lobby, lounge, dining room and gift shop areas to their original 1904 appearance. The cost was $1.1 million. The other project removed asbestos and replaced the sprinkler system as part of an overall safety improvement effort costing almost $1.5 million.
At Lake Yellowstone Hotel, a two-year, $4.5 million renovation of the west wing restored guest rooms to their appearance in the 1920s and '30s. The project, at a cost of $28,800 per room, combined as many as three and four small rooms, sometimes without a bathroom, into a single new one. All new rooms have baths.
