SHARE UTAH AWARDED $196,954 GRANT FROM LAND FUND

Utah is the beneficiary of a $196,954 grant from the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund, National Park Service officials say.

The 23-year-old fund has to date provided more than $3 billion in matching funds for land purchases and development nationwide, said Bob Arkins, spokesman for the service, which administers the account.Utah's share so far is more than $37 million, $27 million of which has helped pay for 365 community proj-ects, such as Salt Lake City's Raging Waters park and a St. George municipal swimming pool.

Another $10 million has been channeled through the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation, supporting 35 projects, including construction of the Bear Lake Marina and Park, land acquisition on the Great Salt Lake's Antelope Island and for Wasatch Mountain State Park.
