Utah Valley Community College has joined the American College Testing program in testing ACT's new college sophomore-level exam - the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency.

According to college officials, items in the new CAAP test were written by two- and four-year professors at public and private colleges and universities throughout the United States. More than 30,000 students in 40 states participated in CAAP field testing. UVCC officials will receive field test results in June.The exam is being developed as a national standardized exam to test fundamental academic skills such as reading, writing, mathematics and critical thinking. CAAP is designed to help institutions evaluate students and academic programs.
