Delta Air Lines set April passenger boarding records in several hub cities as the Atlanta-based carrier continues to post strong spring traffic growth.

In Atlanta, an April record of 1,104,690 passengers surpassed the record set in April 1987 by over 44,000. Delta's Dallas/Fort Worth hub showed an increase for the month to 420,836 from the 384,451 passengers boarded in 1987. In Cincinnati and Salt Lake City Delta set April records of 228,264 and 283,186 passengers respectively.Delta's growing presence in Orlando, coupled with the airline's status as Official Carrier of Walt Disney World, were graphically illustrated with the posting of a 51 percent increase over 1987. In April 1988, Delta boarded 172,716 passengers at Orlando.

Whit Hawkins, Delta's senior vice president of marketing, said the April records indicated continued good economic conditions, Delta's growing route system, and the benefits from the acquisition of Western Airlines.

"It's very gratifying," he said, "to continue to see double-digit traffic growth across the system. More and more passengers are finding our four major hubs - Atlanta, Dallas/-Fort Worth, Salt Lake City and Cincinnati - well positioned to provide conventient connections throughout the United States, Europe and the Far East."
