Jeffery M. Tanner, Orem, has been appointed assistant dean of admissions and records at Brigham Young University.

In addition, BYU has named Gene F. Priday of Orem as registrar, Douglas J. Bell of Orem as director of admissions, and Tom M. Gourley of Pleasant Grove as director of high school and college relations.Robert W. Spencer, dean of admissions and records, said the administrative changes are designed to streamline BYU's services in student recruitment, admissions, registration, record keeping, scholarships and commencement.

The new assignments also compensate for the absence of Erlend D. Peterson, who is serving as president of the LDS mission in Norway.

Tanner has worked at BYU since 1973, serving as financial aid officer for federal programs, scholarship officer, assistant registrar for records, director of admissions and most recently as director of high school and college relations.

Priday joined Admissions and Records in 1972 and has served as graduation evaluation supervisor, assistant registrar/graduation evaluation and assistant registrar/records.

Bell joined the BYU administration in 1973 and has served as assistant director of student financial aids and director of registration/assistant registrar. He played a key role in implementing BYU's nationally recognized touch-tone telephone registration system.

Gourley joined Admissions and Records in 1978, serving as director of Student Information Services and assistant director of admissions before his new assignment.
