"Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" is Saturday's free movie from the Deseret News and Cineplex Odeon Theaters.
The film will have several showings at the new Holladay Center Cinemas (ee the ad on this page for showtimes). You need an actual ad from the paper to get in."Butch" is the great 1969 comedy-western with Robert Redford and Paul Newman, which won four Oscars, including best screenplay and cinematography. The latter is significant since much of that cinematography shows off Utah landscapes at their most gorgeous.
To get into screenings of "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" Saturday at the new Holladay Center Cinemas, or for admission to any of the free movies being sponsored by the Deseret News this coming week, you must have an original ad from the newspaper (here is one in this section today), which is good for two people. If you have more than two in your party, you can always pick up another copy or two of the Deseret News from newsstands around town. You cannot purchase tickets to these films, however, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each movie will be shown only one day with several screenings beginning around noon. Showtimes are listed in the ads, which will run in the Deseret News daily through Thursday.
The other free movies, all of which are promised to be prints in excellent condition, are "Casablanca" (unday), "Modern Times" (onday), "Singin' In the Rain" (uesday), "Ben Hur" (ednesday) and "An Affair to Remember" (hursday).
The new, plush Cineplex Odeon Holladay Center Cinemas is a six-plex located on 48th South, north of the Cottonwood Mall. - C. Hicks
