About 1.5 million people have placed their names on a nationwide petition calling for a presidential pardon for Iran-Contra figure Oliver North, a spokesman for the Rev. Jerry Falwell said Friday.

Falwell, who launched the petition drive in March, is seeking 2 million names, and his spokesman, Mark DeMoss, said the final 500,000 names could be ready this month."I'm going to guess within 30 days, but it may not take that long to reach 2 million," DeMoss said.

Falwell plans to send the 2 million names to President Reagan, and DeMoss said ministry officials are now working to determine the best way to present it to the White House.

"My guess is it would be a computer printout," DeMoss said. "That would be the easiest, and it could be verified."
