State officials have agreed to wait until June 13 before possibly filing charges against Morton Thiokol for alleged safety violations in a fire Dec. 29, 1987, that killed five workers.
Don Anderson, a compliance supervisor for the Utah Division of Occupational Safety and Health Division, said Friday that the state had agreed to let a deadline Thursday pass without filing an official complaint.
Earlier this year, UOSH filed a report alleging that Morton Thiokol had violated six state safety standards and faced a possible fines of $31,700.

Negotiations between UOSH and Morton Thiokol, which has denied the safety violations, will continue in the meantime, Anderson said. Morton Thiokol officials declined to comment on the extension.
